Description
We believe Natural Movement® is more than a fitness practice. It’s a way of life. We also believe it’s the best way to strengthen you mentally and physically, that the best learning and growth happens through experience (i.e. outside of your comfort zone), and that Nature is one of our greatest teachers.
If you want to improve your fitness and Natural Movement abilities, please join us at this special retreat, where you’ll safely explore the MovNat Foundations curriculum under the tutelage of some of the world’s greatest movement coaches. Make unforgettable memories, doing things you never thought you could, at this one-of-a-kind experience designed to positively impact your life through Natural Movement®.
We will be out in nature most of the day, in the heart of the Sardinia capital of Cagliari, learning the foundations of Natural Movement®, fully in context in an outdoor environment. Basic yet challenging, mindful movements will be emphasized, with amazing benefits for overall fitness, mobility and conditioning.
What to Expect at a MovNat Retreat

During the three days of the course, you will learn dozens of basic Natural Movement techniques, such as:
- Ground Movement (lying, rolling, crawling, sitting, kneeling and get-ups)
- Gait Movement (walking and balancing variations, technical stepping, running)
- Airborne Movement (basic jumping and vaulting techniques)
- Climbing Movement (specifically on narrow vertical and horizontal surfaces)
- Manipulative Movement (e.g. lifting, carrying, throwing, catching, etc.)
Who Is This Retreat For?
We designed this MovNat retreat with beginners in mind, but we adapt it to whoever participates.
This retreat is open to everyone no matter your age, fitness level, or current movement abilities. We will be focusing on rebuilding basic movement patterns, using MovNat’s “from the ground up” approach. The level of difficulty will be scaled for each person’s ability. So, this retreat is definitely beginner friendly, and you will never be pushed to do anything too hard, unsafe, or that you’re uncomfortable with. But you will be challenged!
You will also receive teaching and coaching in Movement Efficiency Principles (e.g. including breathing technique) and General Practice Efficiency principles to help you get the most out of your MovNat practice.
We will make sure you also have time to enjoy Cagliari. Discover this beautiful part of southern Europe, including the nightlife, historical sites, and extraordinary beaches.
This retreat is an ideal opportunity to get a full dose of the essence of MovNat, without the “pressure” of passing required tests that are part of our MovNat Level 1 Certification. Additionally, if achieving MovNat certifications IS among your personal or professional goals, this Foundations Retreat is a great starting point for that journey!
Sardinia Retreat Testimonial
“We travelled a long way (from Australia) to attend the inaugural Sardinian MovNat Retreat in September 2023. – so for us the attraction was very strong!
Now in January 2024, we thought there might be interest in sharing ‘what happened next for us?’
This fun, challenging, supportive, friendly 3 day retreat was wonderfully led by MovNat’s Master Instructor Jerome and Sardinian MovNat Trainer Gabriella. You can see images and text by others on Instagram etc that give insights into the variety of skills we worked on in several stunning locations. eg Click for IG Highlights Reel
For both of us this was our first MovNat event and it was inspiring to be with others more experienced than us and to receive their encouragement and hear their stories.
Jerome and Gabriella are very inspiring, super fit, good humoured and helpful every step of the way.
Gabriella took us to very beautiful parks, beaches and mountains around Cagliari for each Session and gave us a wonderful understanding of Sardinian history and culture – including the symbolism of the 4 heads on the Sardinian flag.
Once we arrive at each location, Jerome led the Session – always with interesting stories, a great smile, superb personal demonstrations and plenty of individual feedback and good quotes and tips like ‘If you’re not going to empower yourself, then who will?’
After the Sardinian Retreat was over we agreed to do our best – wherever we happen to be at the time – to continue to build on whatever level of jumping, lifting, climbing, balancing, throwing etc we had achieved.
We have always enjoyed walking on beaches, in forests and in parks and aim to do so at least 2 or 3 times a week. Since the Sardinian Retreat we now see the logs, rocks, posts and other natural resources on our walks that seem eager to become part of our MovNat training! Sure enough, 3 months later, little by little, our jumping, lifting, climbing etc is stronger, faster, further and more assured than before. And we have fun!
For extra challenge we have also discovered and started to utilise several Parcour and Ninja playgrounds around Melbourne where we live. These places are a magnet for fit people and have a great vibe.
Our ‘2023 Sardinian MovNat T shirts’ are great mementos of these wonderful few days in Sardinia and the skills we keep building with the help of the logs, rocks, railings, playground equipment and natural landscapes around us pretty much every time we go for a walk anywhere!
The Retreat was a highlight of our year and felt like such a good investment into our future health and well-being.
Thanks again to Gabriella and Jerome and Happy 2024 to the MovNat family!”
